Can I access my unit any time of day?
Yes. The Cole Avenue entrance will be closed after 4:30PM, however there is a secondary entrance just off of Mission Street. Please view the Directions tab for more information.
Is the lease month-to-month?
Our Rental Agreement is on a month to month basis for a term of one year.
How much do I owe at signing?
You owe one months rent at time of signing to establish your account.
Does Alsip's insurance cover my items?
No. Alsip's insurance does not cover your items. However your homeowners or renters insurance may cover the items you choose to store with us. We suggest talking with your insurance provider to find out the best coverage for your situation.
What kind of lock should I buy? Can I just bring one from home?
There is no need for you to buy a lock or bring one from home. We provide security locks and keys that are impossible to duplicate. These aren't your average locks.
Do you offer any storage containers?
Containers in compounds are supplied only by Alsip’s Industrial Products Ltd. The rental cost of such containers, are as follows. A 20’ X 8’ X 8’ container will cost $150.00/month. A 40’ X 8’ 6” X 8’, will cost $300.00/month.
How do I pay?
You can pay by visiting us at our main office at 1 Cole Ave, Winnipeg MB. We accept Debit and Credit Card.
What do I do when I'm done renting?
We require a written notice 10 days prior to the next rental month, not prior to your move out date. For example, if you will be moving out on September 28, you should give written notice by September 20 because that is 10 days before the next rental period. When you have vacated all your items, remove your lock, let the manager know you are completely done and remind them to cancel your auto-pay if you have one set up.
What if my plans change and I don't need the space after all?
If you cancel in writing within 72 hours of renting, the rent charges will be waived and you will only owe a $25.00 cancellation and administrative fee, plus any retail items purchased. If you cancel in writing after 72 hours, one month’s rent will be due. Cancellations must be in writing and not over the phone.
I have some things I don't want to take with me. Can I leave them or put them in your dumpster?
All of your belongings must be removed once you are done renting. Any items left over will remain forfeit and will be discarded. You will also be charged a removal fee.
If I move out before the end of the month, do I get a refund for those unused days?
No. Since our leases are on a month to month term and not a day to day basis, you will be charged the full amount for the month.
I signed the lease at one price, but I just received a notice that my rent will be increasing. How can you do this?
Your lease and its terms are month-to-month (unless otherwise noted on your contract), so we can change the terms with a 30 days’ written notice. Although most likely unpleasant news, rate increases are common in the storage industry. At the time of renewal, the terms are adjustable. Our standard lease renews every month, so the terms are eligible for change once a month without your signature. Continuing to occupy your unit on and after the date of the change constitutes your compliance with the change.
